Elijah did.

In First Kings 19:9  Elijah who had so much faith, yet we keep reading and find that in the next verses we see this amazing man of God hid.

And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

Sometimes a cave sounds nice. Silent, dark, secluded…but the irony here is that one day before–one day–Elijah had stood up for God in a mighty way. He (literally) fought a big Spiritual battle.

Standing isn’t easy. Elijah went from strong and steadfast to dejected and emotionally defeated.

He hid. He secluded himself.

Here is the amazing thing…when he couldn’t go to God, God came to him.

If this great man of God experienced this, who are we to think we won’t? That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t stand. When we are in the dark, in the cave, by ourselves and just want to roll over in the cave…or on the couch and pull a blanket (or as in Elijah’s case a mantle) over our heads…God is there.

God is with us..
